Call To Action President Obama
We are just a small family owned and operated business that my parents started over 20 years ago, located in a small rural town in Virginia. Our business is car restoration parts for classic and muscle cars, not a necessity by any means, in other words, no one needs to restore their old car unless it is their only means of transportation. The business is constantly faced with competition from bigger businesses. I, in turn, continue to try and find new ways to get more customers, via our website, facebook, blogs, twitters, ebay, etc., yes, exhaustively we have them ALL. I try to read every piece of advise about how to get more fans on facebook to how to optimize the search engines. Have I mastered any of these, no. But I will continue to try so that my parent's business will not be another statistic like the jewelry store we heard about yesterday, Henebry's, that is going out of business and leaving our mall. And yet today, another piece of sad news, a customer has decided not to restore, but sell his classic car because his wife just found out that she will lose her job in June of next year. The reason? It is being eliminated and sent over seas to a call center.
You may be wondering by now what am I rambling on about, the jobless rate in this country. I understand that Nafta was apparently a good idea at the time, but has anyone thought about reconsidering this?? I mean the number of jobs that americans have lost due to these positions being sent to another country to be manufactured? If the idea of eliminating this bill is impossible, how about taxing these goods or services once they are brought back into the country they were took from? My call is to President Obama to realize that there are not alot of ideas for new jobs, but there are alot of previous jobs that can be brought back.
And yes, there needs to be a CHANGE. Do I think he will see this, no, but at least I blew off a little steam, at least for today. :-)
